Rye Town Park is offering free yoga classes from a professional instructor from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. every weekend, starting on June 10.
(Last Sunday's planned debut was postponed due to wet and windy weather.)
Yoga sessions will be offered at 5 Dearborn Ave. in the City of Rye on the lawn near the Gazebo and "Cope" Sculpture Exhibit.
Yoga instructor Dhokela "Kela" Yzeiraj is skilled at guiding beginners as well as longtime enthusiasts.
Yzeiraj invites people of all ages and backgrounds to balance their weekend with Sunday morning classes guaranteed to deliver physical and spiritual reprieves from summer stress. She incorporates meditation along with gentle and grounding yoga postures.
Participants should bring their own mats, blankets or practice directly on the grass.
This is a donation-based class, with no required fees. Participants will be required to sign “hold harmless” forms. People can sign up at the Rye Town Park website by clicking here or show up the morning of class.
Yzeiraj is certified as a RYT-200 HR in Raja Yoga with Yoga Alliance and has been practicing for eight years. She also is trained in the ancient Indian medicine of Ayurveda, “The Knowledge of Life,” and incorporates it as Yoga’s sister science in her teachings. She enjoys sharing this timeless wisdom in daily living through food, bodywork and gardening in community.
Class may be cancelled because of rain, strong winds or unseasonably cold temperatures.
